SMPE components on show

SMPE to showcase new products at Automechanika

Published:  19 August, 2014

Standard Motor Products Europe (SMPE) will be focussing on the quality of its products at this year's Automechanika, Frankfurt, 16th-20th September.

The company's stand will feature working displays featuring its air mass meters, cam/crank sensors and ignition coils plus a glimpse of its manufacturing capacity.

Following an extensive period of intensive research and development, SMPE says it currently offers the highest quality aftermarket air mass meter available. The design uses micro-processor programmable technology and allows each unit to be individually calibrated. This approach has been found to be the only approach to provide consistent and stable performance in the hot, vibrating environment under the bonnet.

  • New sensors

Blue Print's engine management range has nearly 1,050 part numbers for around 5,500 applications and includes camshaft position sensors, knock sensors, MAP sensors, oxygen sensors and many more. New additions include a camshaft position sensor for the Suzuki Jimny, Swift and Wagon, a throttle body for the Daewoo and Chevrolet Matiz, a knock sensor for the Toyota Auris, Prius, Yaris and other models as well as a crankshaft angle sensor for the Kia Rio 1.3i.

  • Sensor programme cranks up

To celebrate three years of expansion to its engine management range, Denso introduces cam sensors and crank sensors into the fold, to join its existing ignition coils, EGR valves, MAF sensors, fuel pumps, exhaust gas temperature sensors and more. Two new fuel pumps for the Toyota Prius and Land Cruiser were added late summer and more references are due in early 2015. Denso says its EGR and EGTS ranges are unique to the aftermarket, being the only brand to offer genuine OE parts for certain applications such as the Toyota Corolla.

  • Original material

The AP brand of clutch parts from SMPE covers 95% of the aftermarket, offering clutch systems, solid flywheels, clutch cover assemblies, drive/friction plates, concentric slave cylinders and clutch/cylinder kits. The range is made up of over 1,300 kits for more than 80 vehicle manufacturers. During the manufacturing process, only original equipment-approved suppliers are used for materials, for facings, castings etc. to ensure high quality parts that are interchangeable with original equipment fitted to the vehicle by the VM.

  • Replace parts not whole pumps

The Fuel Parts range has expanded to enable you to replace common rail assemblies, pressure sensors and valves instead of the whole diesel pump or rail. The initial offering offered by SMPE has 50 part numbers for around 350 applications including the Renault Clio, Citroen Berlingo and BMW 330D/530D and X5. The complete Fuel Parts diesel catalogue is available online and is also provided through Autocat+.

  • Made in Britain

The British-made air mass meters produced by Standard Motor Products Europe use programmable technology rather than the more common variable resitior which can go out of synch when subjected to engine vibration. Each unit is thoroughly tested rather than undergo batch testing, then calibrated to its design specifications in order to achieve consistent results to match OE performance. The Intermotor and Fuel Parts branded sensors have the SMPE logo etched on their body and are electronic coded with a serial number to allow full traceability. An individual test certificate is included for quality assurance and the part number can be identified with a - M suffix. The firm is now focusing on the manfacture of ABS sensors at its Nottingham premises.
