Top Technician 2019 launches

Published:  01 October, 2018

Top Technician 2019 is back for 2019, and is open for entries from today (Monday 1 October).

The national competition, run by Aftermarket magazine, has been identifying the best automotive technicians in the country since 2002. Thousands of vehicle techs from the UK and Ireland have entered the competition over the years.

To enter Top Technician 2019, contestants just need to visit and click on the “enter here” tab. They then need to follow the instructions to sign up, using the code “tt-rd1-quiz” to enter.

As before, 2019’s competition will run through three online rounds, until the 10 semi finalists are identified. They will then take part in a live semi final featuring practical tests. From here the final five will be identified, who will go through to the final in June 2019. At this point the winner and runner up will emerge. As well as the trophy, winners get a major prize bundle from the sponsors and from Aftermarket magazine. The overall Top Technician prize fund added up to £14,000 in 2018.

Anyone can emerge as winner. 2018 winner Shaun Miller was just another entrant at the start of the competition last year – and now he is champion. He commented: “When I first started I saw the competition in Aftermarket magazine and I thought ‘I could never win that,' and  now I have. It is a lifetime achievement for me.“

The first round of Top Technician 2019 will run until January 2019.

In addition to Top Technician, Aftermarket launched Top Garage in 2018 to identify the best garage businesses in the UK. The competition was a great success and is expanding in 2019. Top Garage will launch in November, and more details will follow.

Top Technician 2019 and Top Garage 2019 come to you in association with ABC Awards, the Garage Equipment Association (GEA), the Independent Automotive Aftermarket Federation (IAAF) and the Independent Garage Association (IGA).
