Reman customers favour quality survey finds

Product quality is the most important aspect for those sourcing remanufactured turbochargers, engines and gearboxes, a social media poll performed by Ivor Searle has indicated.

Almost 60% cited quality as the motivating factor when choosing a reman product, while just over 30% leaned towards price. The remaining 10% were swayed by the warranty on offer.

The remanufacturing firm daw demand for its output increase by 35% during the past year, and has increased capacity to enable production of up to 150 engines per week as a result. Ivor Searle’s Commercial Director David Eszenyi observed: “The global semiconductor crisis and rising costs across the board are forcing car owners, online delivery firms, tradespeople and van fleets to run vehicles longer.”

He added: “We expect this trend to continue for the rest of this year and most likely throughout 2023 with Europe in particular being a particularly strong market for growth.”
