Snap-on Diagnostics: Latest software update

Snap-on has released its latest diagnostic software update, with highlights including 2022 model year updates for AFL GM, Hyundai, Kia, Land Rover, Lexus, Mazda, MG, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Smart, Subaru, Toyota, VAG and Volvo.
New features and enhancements include Diagnostics Health Check Report , which simplifies results for vehicle owners, and Custom Data List, which allows the technician to select multiple data categories, reducing the amount of PIDs received.
Additional advantages of using the newest software upgrade include Security Link, which ensures access to OEM-secured vehicles, expert information via SureTrack and manufacturer information such as TSBs campaigns, recalls and repair information. There are also sharing capabilities via Snap-on Cloud and over-air automatic software updates via ShopStream Connect, as well as over 70 on-tool guided component test training courses.

- Snap-on launches new APOLLO-D8 diagnostic scan tool
The APOLLO-D8 is the latest scan tool to be added to the Intelligent Diagnostics family. The device includes SureTrack expert information which delivers top repairs and real fixes for the specific vehicle, as well as DTCs, providing access to information from thousands of garages that have solved the same problem. It also offers Smart Data, which automatically configures the display to show vehicle data PIDs relevant to the fault code, and quick access to functional tests and resets. Accessing the Intelligent Diagnostic functions on the Snap-on APOLLO-D8 requires a software agreement, which will keep the tool updated with the latest information and functionality available.

Keeping up to date with the latest diagnostic tools and methods has been identified as a key concern for independent garages, according to LKQ Euro Car Parts’ analysis of the response to its recent Garage Services campaign.
- Snap-on diagnostic software upgrade
Snap-on has released a new diagnostic software upgrade. Much of the new coverage relates to ADAS systems. Examples of the additions include adaptive cruise control modules on several Alfa Romeo and Fiat models, blind spot monitoring for Hyundai, Land Rover and Mazda variants, Vauxhall Mokka parking assistance and lane keep assist on several Renault and Lexus vehicles. The new ADAS coverage is on top of the wide range of new vehicles and systems added in the latest upgrade. Purchasing the update also back-fills technicians’ tools with all of the information from each previous Snap-on release, bringing the capability to deal with late-model and older vehicles alongside support for facing the new challenges coming into the workshop each day. ZEUS and VERUS Edge users will also benefit from improved management and storage of vehicle photos and diagnostic screenshots, along with faster access on their units to recently-scanned vehicles. - LKQ Euro Car Parts calls on government to act on Block Exemption monopoly threat to independent garages
LKQ Euro Car Parts has called on the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) to urgently clarify its plans for what will replace the EU’s Motor Vehicle Block Exemptions (MVBER), which expire in 2023. While the European Commission is consulting industry within the EU, LKQ Euro Car Parts says the CMA is yet to properly engage with the issue in the UK.
