Trust My Garage raises thousands for BEN

The TMG challenge saw two teams visiting garages across the UK

Published:  11 April, 2014

The Trust My Garage challenge came to a successful end after four days on the road, with the event raising £8,500 for motor industry charity BEN.

The event saw two teams from the IGA attempt to visit as many Trust My Garage scheme members as possible around the country, who also gave donations to BEN. The 'Northern Numpties' and the 'Southern Softies' were also in competition to see who could visit the most before arriving at the Town Thorns Care Centre near Rugby, with the Southern Softies coming out on top by visiting 48 garages, compared to the northerner's 40.

The two teams were driving Volvo estates supplied by Remove My Car. The 'end of life' vehicles each managed to cover around 1,000 miles around the country, adorned with sponsor logos and inviting people to get behind the scheme using Twitter and the team's hashtags. Apart from a couple of leaks when it rained, each car made it to the finish line in once piece and will now be sold on to raise more money for the charity.
