£500,000 investment booster for Phoenix Crankshafts

Slough-based Phoenix Crankshafts has secured an investment boost of more than £500,000, the company has announced.

A Phoenix spokesperson told Aftermarket the investment in the company’s team, equipment and software is from the private investor that acquired Phoenix in 2020, although details of the deal remain undisclosed.

The fresh financial injection has been invested in cutting-edge equipment and software to broaden capability and create crankshafts that are harder wearing, stronger and more effectively counterweighted, Phoenix said.

Meanwhile, the company said new talent has joined its team of engineering and manufacturing specialists in Slough, where it manufactures bespoke crankshafts and connecting rods for veteran, vintage, classic and modern vehicles.

The team has the flexibility to offer bespoke connecting rods with any centres, allowing for fine tuning of compression ratio.

‘Reassurance’

Phoenix, which is exhibiting at the Classic Motor Show at the NEC, Birmingham, this week, has worked across a number of popular marques, both on the road and the track, such as Alfa Romeo, Bentley, Bugatti, Ferrari, Ford, MG and Porsche.

The team’s high-precision approach has also been called upon for iconic engineering feats including developing the crankshaft for the prototype Bugatti Veyron, TWR’s Le Mans winning Silk Cut V12 Jaguars and reverse engineering a behemoth WW1 Mercedes aero engine system.

Tom Coady, workshop manager at Phoenix, said: “With significant financial investment and a growing team, we’re in a better position than ever to help customers preserve and develop their vehicle.

“Our current customers have the reassurance of knowing that they will continue to be looked after by the specialists in the business, while the new investment is a chance to introduce Phoenix Crankshafts to new customers, showcasing the attention to detail that sets us apart.”
