MOT tester disqualification surge highlighted

687 MOT testers were disqualified between 2020 and 2022 up 49% on the 460 disqualified during between 2018 and 2020, according to DVSA data obtained by BookMyGarage.com via a freedom of information request.
More than 1,000 warnings were also issued to MOT testers over the same time period.

Equally, the DVSA banning nearly 3.5 times the number of testers in 2020/21 compared to 2015/16, amounting to an additional 252. Karen Rotberg, Co-founder of BookMyGarage.com, commented: “We welcome the disqualification of rogue MOT testers, as it grants peace of mind that vehicles on the road are being inspected properly. This ultimately improves safety for all road users.”
