GSF opens ‘landmark’ national distribution hub

GSF Car Parts has unveiled its new National Distribution Centre in the West Midlands, which creates more than 400 jobs in the region.

The 500,000 ft2 facility (pictured) near Wolverhampton is now operational and delivering to branches across the UK.

GSF took over the facility last May, saying it would serve as the central logistics hub, modernising the firm’s supply chain infrastructure and streamlining delivery processes into its 194-strong national branch network.

The new distribution centre, which can be expanded up to 750,000 ft2 with mezzanine, includes office space, advanced logistics capabilities with 58 docks, eight-level access loading doors, and parking for nearly 700 vehicles.

CEO Steve Horne said the opening is a landmark moment for the company.

“For years, we recognised the need for a centralised facility to elevate our service, and now that vision is a reality.

“The NDC will ensure branches have more products on the shelf and will remove lots of time-consuming processes so our network can focus on serving the customer. It is the flagship of a broader investment programme that’s transforming GSF Car Parts at every level.”

Sukhpal Ahluwalia, GSF’s chairman, said the centre represents “an absolute gamechanger for GSF and the industry.

“As soon as we acquired the business last year, we knew we needed to get it done. Our ability to deliver this massive facility talks to the quality of our team. No one else would have been able to deliver a complicated project such as this one at breakneck speed.”

Ahluwalia said every branch nationwide will benefit from daily deliveries. “Before our branches even open their doors, the parts that they need will be there, whether it’s restocking or ordering for customers.”
