Ian turns to pedal power for hospice fund-raiser

HELLA’s IAM sales director Ian Boyle is set to start a three-day charity cycle ride from London to Paris for Katharine House Hospice in the firm’s UK hometown of Banbury.

The ride, from September 18-20, will cover between 60 and 75 miles each day.

And while Boyle is an experienced cyclist, this is his first attempt at tackling long distances over consecutive days.

“This ride is well outside my comfort zone, but having visited Katharine House Hospice, I’ve witnessed the incredible care they provide for adults with incurable illnesses,” Boyle said.

“It’s humbling, and I want to do everything I can to help ensure this vital support continues.”

Nursing staff costs at the hospice are covered by the NHS, but the annual running expenses of over £5.3 million rely entirely on charitable donations and legacies.

“Having experienced the love and support of the hospice community during the loss of close friends, I know just how much difference these services make at critical times,” Boyle said.

Neil Grant, MD at HELLA UK, said: “It’s a fantastic demonstration of HELLA’s commitment to our local community and charitable causes.”

Boyle’s fund-raiser has already garnered around £3,000, but click here to add your donation.
