Inspiration and awards at REPXPERT conference

Schaeffler has hailed its first national REPXPERT conference for UK garages as a success.

More than 200 attended Coventry’s Manufacturing Training Centre on May 22 for the all-day event, which was designed to capitalise on the company’s regional REPXPERT Academy Live events.

Schaeffler Automotive Aftermarket UK sales and marketing director Matthew Selby said: “Representatives of the best businesses in the automotive aftermarket were able to hear from inspiring speakers, listen to the latest business advice, and learn more about our latest products.”

Automotive journalist, TV presenter and content creator Abigayle André hosted the event, which kicked off with a presentation from GiPA’s Quentin Le Hetet, who looked at how garages can future-proof in a fast-changing world.

Colin Denton, star of TV’s Classic Car Garage, discussed the ongoing importance of apprenticeships, while a panel discussion featured REPXPERT ambassador Andy Savva ‘The Garage Inspector’, Matt Cleevely of Cleevely EV, Tim Benson of Oldfields Garage, Matt Wiseman of Wiseman Motor Services and Dean Lomas of DC Lomas.

Following the inaugural REPXPERT awards, three breakout lectures were held in the afternoon, led by Matt Cleevely, Louise Baker of Womanic, and head of Schaeffler REPXPERT Sven Olev Mueller.

Visitors also toured the technical zone and saw latest innovations from Schaeffler, along with specially invited workshop service providers including Laser Tools and Garage Hive.

Also at the event, apprentice technicians from the East Midlands and northwest, along with a garage in the northeast were named as the first-ever victors at the REPXPERT Awards.

Winners were — Apprentice of the Year, Mia Reeves (pictured, above) of Bear and Bee Garage in Grantham, Lincolnshire; Extra Mile Award — Andrew Mather of Stockport Truck Centre, St Helens; Workshop Award — East Boldon Motors in Tyne and Wear.
