Reman from Motor Man
Gearboxes are heavy items to replace, especially in light commercial vehicles. This can also make new ones expensive, something which can put the customer off replacing them. However, a remanufactured gearbox can save on costs while also preventing a unit that may be fixable from being scrapped.
Established in 1969, Motorman offers rebuilt engines, gearboxes, power steering racks, pumps and turbochargers. The company’s 60,000 sq ft factory in Birmingham works to OE standards, while all units supplied by the company are backed by a 12-month unlimited mileage warranty. The company estimates that it remanufactures over 10,000 gearboxes a year.
It has recently launched a new range of Ford Transit fleet genuine OE quality re-manufactured transmissions. To the company’s knowledge, this is the first time a manufacturer has licenced the release of their dealer quality reman transmission products to an aftermarket distributor. This means that the company is able to offer them at a competitive price.
Motor Man works with fleets as well as independent garages and offers a number of services and technical support. The company keeps a large amount of stock on its shelves but should an option not be available, they are able to collect the original part and re-work it.
As a responsible company, Motorman remains committed to ensuring that the motor trade does all it can to reduce waste, through recycling serviceable products back into the supply chain. The board of Directors and Senior Management constantly strive to increase awareness of remanufacturing internally and into the wider community. As a member of the SMMT Aftermarket Reman Forum, Motorman attends regular meetings to formulate policies and codes of practice.
Motor Man also offers radiators, oil coolers, fuel pumps and DPFs amongst a number of other products and services.
