Schaeffler scraps paper to embrace digital, cut waste

Schaeffler confirmed today its delivery notes are going paperless, as part of the firm’s global move away from physical documentation which it said will save more than 30 trees per year in the UK alone.
All LuK, INA and FAG part shipments to customers are set to include digital documentation by October 1.
Matthew Selby, sales and marketing director at Schaeffler Automotive Aftermarket UK, said all customers had been emailed about the shift to digital.
“We are more than aware of the need to cut down on unnecessary waste. Apart from the amount of paper used for the delivery notes, which are looked at once and discarded, there is also the issue of the ink and toner used, and the energy expended powering printing machinery,” Selby said.
“By going digital, we are reducing energy usage, which is simply better for the environment.”
In a related move, Schaeffler’s REPXPERT bonus points loyalty scheme also went fully digital, providing instant access to technical information, offers and more via the ‘OneCode’ on Schaeffler product boxes.
