Body repair part back order supply issues bite

A surge in the number of parts now on backorder from OEM vehicle manufacturers is expected to lead to an increase in the number of vehicles being written off, Synetiq has warned, and the company has set up a team to support bodyshops with parts supply issues as a result.
Many common vehicle parts, such as headlights, bumpers, and doors, are now suffering significant supply delays, with some manufacturers unable to say when some items will be available. Longer ‘vehicle off road’ time resulting from parts scarcity will mean vehicle insurers face additional costs, and eventually leading to unnecessary write-offs.
SYNETIQ Green Parts Director Sarah Hirst commented: “Providing safe, certified green parts is a key area of our business. We want to do everything we can to support our bodyshop clients with OEM backorder supply challenges.”
“Although the current supply backorders remain an issue, this has allowed us to demonstrate how viable green parts are for use in collision repair, as a cost-effective, sustainable alternative to brand new OEM parts.”
SYNETIQ has now established a dedicated point of contact email for backorder parts requests: backorder@synetiq.co.uk
