New Banner contracts supercharge start to year

Lead battery manufacturer Banner has been awarded two long-term battery supply contracts worth an equivalent of around £175 million in total.

Banner said the European and North American deals are with long-standing partners from the automotive industry and secure continued use of its production capacity for this year through to 2028.

One of the contracts covers the supply of batteries for start-stop applications, plug-in hybrid vehicles and EVs. Deliveries will be made both for series production and for the original spare parts business.

The second contract strengthens the presence of the Banner Group in North America, the firm said. Batteries will be supplied for vehicles with start-stop systems as well as for conventional internal combustion engine vehicles.

The new orders were secured despite considerable economic challenges, said Banner CEO Werner Töpfl.

The deals come just weeks after Aftermarket reported that Banner had expanded its range with four new battery types to strengthen the company’s grip on the multi-drive systems market.

Lee Quinney, Banner’s UK country manager, said then the expansion was an important step in offering customers the most comprehensive coverage possible of the European vehicle fleet for aftermarket fitment with our OE-quality brand batteries.
