New waste oil recycling partnership to aid UK garages

A new waste oil collection service that will benefit firms including independent garages and workshops has been launched by TotalEnergies Marketing UK in partnership with Enva.

TotalEnergies said the waste oil collection, packaged waste and recycling service for its UK customers with Enva — one of the UK and Ireland’s leading environmental services and resource recovery businesses — covers all markets including automotive and industrial.

The move, announced on February 2,  offers access to a reliable, fully licensed waste-oil collection service, helping firms reduce their carbon footprint through enhanced recycling, the partners said.

Collected waste oils will undergo quality control, be stored and then transported to the TotalEnergies Tecoil facility in Finland to produce high-performance, more environmentally friendly Re-Refined Base Oils (RRBOs). TotalEnergies said the RRBOs are used to manufacture its innovative, low-carbon EV3R range of lubricants.

‘Step forward’

The circular lubricants range includes the EV3R range, with Quartz for passenger vehicles and Rubia for heavy-duty on-road vehicles.

Karoly Repas, general manager at TotalEnergies Marketing UK’s lubricants division, said: “This is more than a waste oil recycling service, it is also a major step forward in the creation and delivery of fully circular lubricants for our industry.”

Michael Sneath, MD of lubricants and batteries at Enva, said the circular approach to lubricant recycling and manufacture by TotalEnergies was a unique approach and a major step towards establishing a full circular economy for lubricants.
